My Experiences

Born in South Dakota, Lorie Yauney grew up in the country where she enjoyed raising lambs, calves, and chickens. She learned to ride horses at a young age and later trained them and competed in local horse shows and rodeos. As a teenager, she defied traditional roles and enrolled in a bronc riding school without her parents’ permission. While she was not successful riding bucking horses, she enjoyed the experience and gained a deep respect for the dun mare who always threw her to the ground. Her country upbringing and love of animals contributed to the strong, caring, independent thinker Yauney is today.

Attending college at Chadron State College in Nebraska, Yauney focused on her love for writing. She enrolled in creative writing courses and joined the college newspaper as a writer. After graduating with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in psychology, she moved to Georgia and started her professional career. Yauney worked for over 20 years with an independent insurance agency where she broke through the glass ceiling first as Vice President of Human Resources and then as Chief Operating Officer. However, those accomplishments were no longer fulfilling to Yauney—she needed more. She walked away from Corporate America to follow her dreams of becoming a writer and a free spirit. Yauney is a strong supporter of the underdog, believing that everyone deserves a chance, even those who are damaged. Judgment, deceit, and greed are not her credo.

Yauney currently lives in Indiana with her two pit bull girls and close to her daughter and granddaughters. Other than writing, she enjoys her tractor, power tools, and bonfires. She empowers and inspires her family as they build campsites and catch fireflies together.
